My First Trek

So, My First Trek was something very unexpected. A night before the trek, my high school batchmate messages me asking me “would you like to join this trek organized by a traveling group, it would be fun”. I was shit scared, nervous, anxiety ka volcano almost blast hone Wala tha. So I decided to do some research and turns out it was this place..

Like this was the place I was trying to get to for almost two years now, but didn’t have any solid information or location to go about. So I just got my stuff packed(that’s just water and my camera) and was waiting for the upcoming day. Do you remember those days when you would get up early and be ready for the picnic, yes, that’s what excalty what happened , all excited,on time( like seriously I was on time) and was waiting for the bus. This time the bus was late but no issues with that. Got in the bus, 40+ unknown people except for my friend, with anxiety knocking the door again and again I began my first trek. We were heading towards Satorem Waterfall, which is located in Valpoi district of the state. After a 2 and hours drive through the villages and lush green forests, we arrived at our destination. We were briefed abit, given our lunch boxes, and we began our journey. Walking through small water crossings, extremely steep slopes ,like seriously we crawled up our route in some places and going through dense and highly saturated green trees, I realized that this trek was the best decision, I needed this break(and thank god I starting gyming which made this trek way more easier and less tiring). After around 2-3 hours of trekking we reached our destination and oh boy….that place was just like paradise man. All my struggle and tiredness just vanished, me and friend just looked at the falls, like that feeling was unexpressive. Just when I was great full about this trek, things took a really “wild” wrong turn.

There was an sudden Honeybees attack on the whole batch, there where screams all over the place, I ran for my life thinking I could get away with this but nope, as a sweet person I’m, I too got attacked and lord. THAT STING HURTS!!!, like seriously I could not think about anything and the only voice I heard was ” Jump In the water”, so I threw my camera bag and just jumped and stayed there until everything settled. It was the most terrific experience, one side I saw a girl fully covered in Honeybees, crying for help but no one act at that moment, on the other side my Friend who saw this attack first, ran but fell from a small drop-off and broke her leg and was covered with Honeybees. This horror sequence remained for an half and hour until everything settled as someone ignited some smoke. The first girl was immediately taken to the hospital but my friend couldn’t even move her leg, and it’s next to impossible to take her with the route we came. So with the help of a few other trekers, we made a stretche using the woods and took through a new route which took us almost 5-6 hours to reach our base. She and all of us were later taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. We later informed, the girl covered with Honeybees had 3 Honeybee extracted from her ears and my friend had a fracture and nothing major.
A trek that started off so well, turned into a last trek for most of us. But for me, I learnt way to many things in one incident. Everyone lost something or the other,I almost lost my most precious thing, my camera. Remember I said I threw my camera and jumped in the waters, after everything settled down, I asked someone to search for my bag and he removed my bag from the water like a Marie biscuit from a chai, I skipped a heartbeat, praying nothing had happened, but the damage was done. Right now the camera is gone for repair and I got to wait for a week or so. Although this story didn’t have an happy ending, we all had an lifetime experience, something we will never forget, something I’ll never forget.
