Getting aside from the famous “Bala challenge”,this version of Bala is come to narrate a different, impactfull yet extremely funny story. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Bala is a story of a man suffering for male pattern baldness and his experiences presented in a very humorous and in a quirky mannerism. The movie is direct to the point leaving you either laughing very hard or caught in the emotional scenes during the 2 hour 13 mins runtime.
Ayushmann Khurrana and his midas touch on script and story selection has yet again proved to be golden. Every screen appearance by the protagonist just magically connects to you as the character grows, Ayushmann seamlessly takes us on this unique and eye opening journey of “Self Acceptance” from his premature baldness. Co- stars Bhumi Pednekar, Yami Gautam, Javed Jaffrey, Saurabh Shukla, and Seema Pahwa also play very impactful roles everytime they are on the screen respectively. The movie has narration by Vijay Raz as “Bal/ Hair” narrating during the whole runtime keeping us occupied in every new experience the protagonist goes through. The music overall was quite catchy and not over flowing.
Overall, Bala is excellent take on how no matter what is your physical appearance, accepting the way you are and gaining self confidence is the best medicine you can take to end the societal pressure and stereotypes. It’s a must watch paisa wasol movie, watch out the SRK references. The movie is now available on Hotstar.
